Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years.

With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.

The North Atlantic Projects Group manages large capital projects across the North Atlantic Operation for the Base Metals Business.

The Planning & Controls Discipline plays an integral part of the team managing Cost Control, Planning, Scheduling, Estimating, Accounting and Reporting.


The Opportunity


We are currently seeking
a Planning & Control Assisatnt Student for
September 2024 to join our
Planning & Controls Department based in Sudbury, ON.

This is a
12-16-months position working on site at the North Atlantic Operation Center and our Mine sites. The work module is onsite.

As a "Planning & Controls Assistant Student", your responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Work directly with cost controllers, accountants, schedulers, and reporting analysts to assist in performing the Planning and Controls functions.
  • Assist the disciplines with pulling together administrative data to support routines and help to advance existing systems.
  • Assist in the entry of data to support key processes in the ERP system.
  • Work with data management for Power BI reporting.
  • Pull together and analyze data for evaluation of existing processes and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Report up to Regional and Senior Managers for key metrics on an Ad hoc basis.
  • Support the routines for Planning & Controls Functions.
  • Perform a variety of different tasks across Planning & Controls to cover for absences.
  • Assist with the setup of newly established ERP / Project Management Systems.
  • Manage assigned projects in a manner that meets quality, time, and resource requirements.
  • Exercise good judgement and maintain confidentiality in handling critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.
  • Practice Communication amongst a variety of disciplines across the NAPG.
  • Have the opportunity to build relationships with people in the business.

About You

Education:


  • Currently enrolled as a student in a
  • College Program in Mining Engineering Programs or Project Management Programs
  • University Program in Commerce/Business or Engineering Disciplines
  • Math preferred.

Experience:


  • Previous experience in a mining industry is considered an asset.

Skills:


  • Solid verbal, written and analytical communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
  • Proven time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
