Position:
Food Distribution Assistant


Location: 40 Begbie Street, New Westminster


Hourly salary:
$17.40


Hours: 25 hours per week


Schedule:
Start time is 7:30 am for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays


Overview:


The Lower Mainland Purpose Society is a non-profit social service agency whose mission is to deliver a continuum of social, health, educational and residential services.

The Purpose Society works in partnership with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Dan's Legacy to distribute food to over 1200 people weekly.

Food is distributed through bi-weekly food hampers, a weekly food pantry and various programs, including the youth hub, shelter and daycares.


As the food hamper assistant, you will make a difference every day in the lives of people dealing with food insecurity.

You will work in collaboration with the food hamper team to complete the following duties.


Duties

  • Preparing and packing food hampers
  • Receiving, sorting, and storing food donation deliveries
  • Interacting with food hamper clients who pick up from the Purpose Society
  • Preparing sandwiches and other cold food items to be distributed to various programs
  • Working alongside volunteers to complete tasks
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • In the absence of the Food Hamper Coordinator, managing operations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification:


  • Physically fit and able to bend and lift boxes up to 22 kgs
  • Physically able to stand for long periods and to frequently go up and down stairs
  • Communicate at an intermediate level in English verbally and in writing
  • Multitask while having a high attention to detail
  • Work independently with limited direction
  • Food Safe an asset
  • Must be eligible to currently work in Canada
