About this opportunity:
Cenovus is currently looking for a Mechanic Maintenance Technician for Drayton Valley, Alberta.


Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician is accountable to effectively participate as a team member by providing safe and cost-effective maintenance for all rotating mechanical equipment and piping systems for our Clearwater operational areas.


What you'll do:

  • Adhere to safe work practices that comply to EH&S guidelines and Cenovus internal practices and expectations
  • Provide mechanical maintenance in performing daytoday maintenance activities (e.g. procedures) in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in the Maintaining and troubleshooting of all sitespecific equipment mechanical problems to optimize operations in accordance with established standards, procedures, mechanical drawings and codes
  • Complete all mechanical maintenance records (e.g. work permits, and required reports) and submits for accuracy and timely reporting
  • Identify and scope out opportunities to maximize runtime, minimize downtime and optimize processes
  • Responsible for corrective/preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on pumps, engines, compressors, fans, motors, and gearboxes
  • Conduct or coordinate preventative and corrective repairs on all mechanical rotating equipment and related components in plant and field facilities
  • Actively engage in major overhauls and turnaround / shutdown activities, submit work orders/requests of potential work or opportunity work that is related to shutdown/turnaround
  • Collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance planners, engineering teams and leads
  • Work with the Operations staff to provide troubleshooting expertise when required
  • Manage thirdparty contractors as required
  • Responsible to participate and continuously improve maintenance KPIs
  • Accountable to identify problems and follow them to resolution
  • Accountable to stay current with technological advances in specified trade(s)
  • Support all work order process from creation to closure as per Cenovus standards
  • Provide input to team leads and warehouse personnel regarding equipment and spare parts inventory requirements
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary and escalate communication of issues and their resolution as appropriate
  • May be required to execute tasks and responsibilities not listed in this job description

Who you are:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
  • Journeyman mechanical trade certificate
  • Red Seal designation
  • Dual ticket certification for Millwright and Heavy-Duty Mechanic would be considered an asset
  • Experienced and certified in Vibration Analysis would be considered an asset
  • Solid experience in negotiating complex solutions from conflicting priorities 5 plus years of experience preferably in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Selfmotivated individual who enjoys working in a fastpaced teamoriented environment
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to team objectives relating to safety, the environment and productivity
  • Strong organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently are required
  • Welldeveloped and proven mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills on stationary and rotary equipment
  • Proficiency in CMMS software (i.e., SAP) and Microsoft programs
  • First Aid, TDG, WHMIS and H2S Alive certifications are required
  • Valid class 5 driver's license is required.
