POSITION CONTEXT
Support the IT infrastructure with specific emphasis on AV.

The incumbent will work closely with clients and other IT Professionals to assess needs, design, build and test workflows using the McGill University's batch scheduling tool and supporting software.

Other responsibilities include configuration of release packages and promotion of code between environments.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provide Level 1 technical support within the ITS workflow assignments specific to AV classroom support and private rooms.
  • Troubleshoot and research resolutions for simple incidents related to AV.
  • Provide status reports from ServiceNow and problem summaries.
  • Opening of facility work orders and appropriate followups to ensure resolution.
  • Participate in software/hardware upgrades including planning, scheduling and testing.
  • Maintain audiovisual inventory by ensuring mínimal stock is always available and liaising with external vendors to gather quotes for the replacement of defective equipment and send for processing.
  • Process the service requests accordingly to the workinstructions and procedures for different clientele
  • Make recommendations to users as: Students, Academic, employees, guests, professor visitor, consultants, retirees, etc., and explain solutions in nontechnical terms.
  • Meet the objectives of the unit in delivering quality and efficient customer service and assistance in a timely manner
  • Identify, isolate and communicate problems from, and to, all levels of internal service partners. Ability to be assertive and control conversations to gather relevant facts.
  • Verify work with attention to detail, works independently, manage multiple priorities and operate in a fastpaced and demanding environment.
  • Represent the team in project meetings with customer and technical areas.
  • Keeping abreast of new technology and best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Experience:
Three (3) years' related experience


Other Qualifying Skills:


  • Technical understanding of distributed computing platforms, batch processing and change control concepts.
  • Keeping abreast of new technology and best practices
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, communication and problemsolving skills.
  • ITIL concepts or similar
  • Work well with mínimal direct supervision
  • Functional knowledge of Audio-Visual Support, Maintenance and Repairs processes
  • Good technical knowledge of IT Infrastructure systems
  • Knowledge of CRESTRON Fusion software/system
  • Good understanding of IP management tools such as IPAM
  • Basic knowledge of concepts related to AV over the network
  • Functional understanding McGill's AV standards
  • Strong English spoken and written. French, spoken.

Knowledge of French and English:

McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.


  • May be required to work offhours (based on a predetermined schedule).

Salary:
$33.05-$40.97 per hour
