What is the opportunity?


The Investment Products Advisory Group (IPAG) supports Global Asset Management (GAM) products and the capital markets view across all Canadian distribution channels that serve individual investors.

Its primary responsibility is to act as a link between investment management and sales to effectively position and support the firm's offering across multiple channels.

The primary clients are RBC PH&N Investment Counsellors, GAM wholesalers (supporting full service brokers/advisors), GAM enterprise distribution (supporting advisors within RBC branches) and National Accounts.

Overall, the group ensures that our firm excels in its sales and client service efforts, thus allowing the portfolio management team to place maximum focus on managing money.

You will be responsible for acting as a centre of expertise with regard to product and market-related information.


What will you do?

  • Conceptualize, research and write articles and marketrelated content for a daily newsletter
  • Write marketoriented commentary and thematic articles in response to newsworthy trends in the economy and capital markets, editing and modifying content for specific target audiences
  • Source articles and develop charts and other content aligned with current market themes and sales opportunities, with a focus on issues and topics that directly impact RBC GAM strategies
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of RBC GAM's investment philosophies and processes and be able to concisely relay this information in verbal and written communications
  • Develop commentary and reporting for quarterly fund updates, monthly attribution, semiannual MRFPs, and other regular communications.
  • Support distribution channels with market and fund data requests
  • Disseminate conference call information, news releases and product information where appropriate
  • Manage the positioning of fund and other productrelated information
  • Coordinate requests for conference calls and speaking engagements
  • Participate in activities that are meaningful to the communication of product information

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in capital markets and/or mutual fund industry
  • Exceptional written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including previous experience developing and writing investmentrelated content, particularly in a fastpaced environment
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, specifically related to charting and formatting.

Nice to Have

  • A strong understanding of the retail banking landscape and its client base; infield experience a strong asset
  • Ability to distill large amounts of information into tangible and understandable messages
  • Acute attention to detail and strong organizational skills with ability to work in high pressure situations
  • Passion and desire to develop market knowledge and technical skills. Some experience with Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg an asset
  • Knowledge of VBA would be an asset
