This role is eligible for hybrid work - this means you'll have the flexibility of working from home and in the office (in Regina), on a scheduled rotation once training requirements have been met.

Until then, the successful incumbent will be expected to work on-site, full-time.

In this role you will develop working relationships and share ERM knowledge with business areas to understand, define, measure, treat and monitor risks at the operational and corporate level.

As part of the Risk Management department, this position will collaborate with legal professionals and other key internal risk partners that includes Underwriting, Privacy, Business Continuity, IT, and Audit Services to align objectives and processes, and support good risk management and responsible risk-taking.

Key Accountabilities

Risk Management- Researches and recommends policy enhancements to support identification, evaluation, and management of corporate and operational risks.- Facilitates a consistent approach to risk management to support governance, policy development, innovation, and best practice alignment with managing risks. Participates in planning initiatives, workshops, and meetings to define risk management program goals, objectives, governance processes, and develop practical solutions.- Participates in divisional and senior management meetings as assigned to ensure representation and input of the corporate ERM program.- Champions a risk-aware culture that that educates and reinforces that everyone has a role to play in risk management of their respective areas.- Provides research and support regarding new and emerging risk-related issues and leading practices.- Supports special projects designed to materially improve the corporate risk profile.


ERM Policies and Processes- Assists the Director in the design and delivery of the corporate ERM program, including development and delivery of policy and training, and the facilitation of the annual update of the corporate risk register.- Researches and recommends ERM best practices to be incorporated into the ERM program.- Raises awareness of the need for appropriate internal controls and to be proactive in adapting to changing business needs across the company.


Insurance- Reviews and documents SGI's insurable risk exposures and insurance coverages, identifies gaps in coverages and potential loss control activities, and provides recommendations for improvements to the Director, Risk Management.- Facilitates the annual renewal of the corporate insurance policies and works with other divisions to update underwriting information.- Collaborates with other Crown Corporations to identify and facilitate shared coverage opportunities and best practices.- Assists departments in the assessment of applicable risk treatments, which may include insurance.- Reviews and recommends contractual wording related to insurance and risk.

Corporate Management- Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic, and divisional strategies.- Manages risk in area of authority.- Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.


Education and Experience- Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field such as insurance, risk management, finance.- A risk management designation (e.g., Canadian Risk Management) or a professional designation in a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of risk management and ERM principles and processes.- Knowledge of insurance industry, principles and processes.- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new systems.- Ability to write high-quality reports and presentations that are clear, concise, and targeted to specific audiences.- Ability to gather, analyze, simplify, and leverage complex information to make business recommendations.
