This Temporary Full Time Opportunity is available for up to approximately 7 months

Keeping Ontario's Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers.

The Office of the Assembly is dedicated to serving Ontario's Parliament.


Together, we provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the
Manager, Human Resources is both a strategic and hands-on role responsible for providing internal client support and driving HR functional excellence and process improvements.

How You Qualify:


You demonstrate excellence through your:


  • Proven HR experience within a senior HR business partnership capacity, with welldeveloped consulting and relationship management skills, demonstrating a strong client service orientation with exceptional interpersonal and organization skills
  • Efficient problemsolving through "on the spot" thinking
  • Sense of urgency and working with a purpose
  • Demonstrated experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
  • Excellent level of verbal, written and presentation skills to communicate with clients and produce appropriate correspondence, reports and material
  • Proven participation in various HR projects such as process improvements, new technology, organization design, policy development, etc.
  • Demonstrated ongoing development of reporting staff to ensure effective HR client service and staff growth
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation, and pension and benefit practices
  • University degree and/or postgraduate diploma and/or minimum of 6 years' equivalent experience
  • Progressive HR career experience and maintenance of your CHRL designation

What You'll Do:


You'll act with integrity to:


  • Provide leadership and direction to, and directly manage, an established team of clientfacing HR professionals with daytoday management of HR functions
  • Manage/resolve complex employee issues with appropriate investigation, records and provision of sound advice
  • Interpret policy, practices and legislation, and guide HR staff and clients, ensuring established policies and practices are handled consistently and in a timely manner
  • Assist with effective development and delivery of workshops
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, exhibiting the utmost tact, diplomacy and confidentiality at all times while demonstrating a high degree of professionalism in a nonpartisan consultative role

You'll support our collaboration as you:


  • Provide varying support to, and work closely with, the Payroll function
  • Partner to utilize your ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures, and initiatives to affect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR in the Assembly
  • Provide leadership and consulting support in areas of team building, conflict resolution, performance management, progressive discipline, recruitment, compensation, employee development, disability management, etc.
  • Partner with client leaders for organization design strategy and talent planning to leverage talent and drive results
  • Manage comprehensive onboarding programs, including review of ongoing employment suitability
