JOB SUMMARY:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of 2 year community college diploma in Architectural / Urban and Regional Planning, Legal or Business / Public Administration

Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience directly related to providing customer service, including a minimum of 1 year in delivering services related to permits, inspections, compliance or enforcement


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of the City of Ottawa organizational structure and how provincial and federal agencies relate to branch activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of rural requirements, including septic and well requirements, municipal drain setbacks and tile drainage loans.
  • Thorough knowledge of Corporate/Branch Cash Handling policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of records management systems, both manual and electronic, e.g. EIRMS, BIMS, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the following legislations, regulations and legal documents and their interrelationships: Ontario Building Code Act and regulations (Ontario Building Code), MFIPPA, Copyright Act, Planning Act, including Committee of Adjustment and OMB decisions, Demolition Control Bylaw, Site Plan Control Bylaw and Zoning Bylaw; Building Bylaw, Pool Enclosure Bylaw, Permanent Signs on Private Property Bylaw, Development Charges Bylaw, Compliance Reports Bylaw, Municipal Addressing Bylaw and Schedule 26 of the Licensing Bylaw
  • General knowledge of other development related bylaws including Property Standards Bylaw, Tree Protection Bylaw, Tree Conservation
  • Urban Bylaw and Private Approach Bylaw.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
