Purpose:

The Student Consultant role on Learning and Teaching will work alongside educational developers at the Teaching Commons, and directly with faculty to provide an important, diverse student perspective into teaching and learning activities at York.

The Student Consultant role will focus on three interconnected areas:

operationalizing the students-as-partners program (Consultation and Reflection), engaging in research across the university (Research), and disseminating findings within and beyond the university (Knowledge Mobilization).

Education:

Pursuing a bachelor's degree at York or recent York graduate (received bachelor's degree in last 1-2 years).

Experience:

Experience:

First hand experience of at least one full academic year as a student.

Skills:

Interest in being part of a Students-as-Partners model of collaboration.

Demonstrated ability to learn new skills.

Interest in reflective practice.

Desire to learn more about the foundational principles of learning and pedagogy.

Willingness to work in a team and build collaborative, working, interpersonal relationships.

Capable of working independently, when needed, to solve problems.

Excellent organization and time management skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills (English. French considered an asset).

Flexibility to manage variations in workload throughout the term and multiple projects.

Willingness to sit in uncertainty at the centre of an exciting, evolving project that values collaboration and transformation.
