As a Team Lead of Community Funding Strategies you will advance the social well-being and safety of Calgarians through a wide range of social service planning and policy development, and community funding program management


Primary duties include:

  • Supervising a team of staff dealing with complex social issues, while employing flexible leadership and coaching strategies that supports creative and analytical thinking.
  • Managing the finances and human resources of the section, including operating budget, hiring, staff development and learning, and performance management.
  • Leading the development, maintenance, and updates to a range of community and social service funding frameworks and oversee the implementation strategies for multiple funding streams, with different eligibility criteria, including contracts with other orders of government.
  • Overseeing the evaluation of proposals and make recommendations for the allocation of community funding, with input from internal and external partners.
  • Evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of funding policies, plans and frameworks, advising senior management on issues and opportunities and proposing strategic solutions.
  • Overseeing the development of written reports, briefing notes, memos and presentations.
  • Collaborating across other business units, funders, community partners and other orders of government in identifying and responding to emerging issues as they relate to community funding.

Qualifications
***A degree and at least 8 years of experience OR;

  • A graduate degree and at least 4 years of experience in the social services field, with an emphasis on systems planning, funding policy and process development, implementation and impact assessment.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of non profit organizations and those who deliver social services programs considered an asset.
  • Formal supervisory and project management experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with senior administration and political leaders is an asset.
  • Strong leadership and relationshipbuilding skills, with the ability to motivate others to action and collaborate across the organization and with external partners.
Well-developed political acumen and organizational sensitivity, with the ability to effectively advocate for change, influence others and resolve conflict.

Critical thinking and ability to coach direct reports in developing approaches to identify and resolve issues, analyze material, and respond to emerging challenges.

Advanced oral and written communications skills.
