Position Summary:


Under the direction of the Mechanical Superintendent the Pipefitter Foreperson is responsible as the lead member of the crew and is required to plan work and manage the production and efficiency of the crew.

The Pipefitter Foreperson assists the Superintendent with daily organization and control of labour, equipment and materials to ensure the delivery of a high standard of HSE, quality and productivity is maintained by the crew.


Job Description:


  • Actively support NAC'S Health, Safety, and Environment policies and procedures
  • Perform 50% handson work duties in the field completing installations and leading a crew (610), and 50% in the office, planning work
  • Knowledgeable and aware of the required layout and quality of installations; direct and monitor quality; report on any issues
  • Pipe work will be mainly stainless and carbon steel, with sizes from 3" to 48"
  • Initiate the RFI process based on drawings or specifications, as required
  • Monitor job progress and provide regular progress reporting to the supervisor
  • Assist in preparing, monitoring and updating Planning Aids to ensure dates are met. Understand scope of work and communicate any constructability issues
  • Ensure each member knows the production and cost code expectations for the tasks at hand
  • Plan and monitor materials and equipment deliveries, as well as maintain proper use of hand tools
  • Identify quality, quantity and scope changes to the Contract and communicate to the supervisor
  • Encourage and promote open communication and trust with the workforce; lead by example in the assigned work. Provide regular direction to your crew. Provide coaching and training as required; encourage positive moral

Requirements:


  • Possess a valid Pipefitter trade certification
  • 23 years experience leading a crew of up to 10 tradespersons
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, drawings, sketches and specification to determine work activities
  • Strong time management and attention to detail skills
  • Knowledge of the general site specific occupational health and safety
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong communication, problemsolving and interpersonal skills
  • Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform and Working at Heights certificates are required
