OVERVIEW

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Management Office Functions for the project management, coordination and completion of Information Management Strategic Plan projects:

  • Develops project design and implementation plans in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Facilitate completion of project plans and milestones according to timelines.
  • Coordinate internal issue tracking and resolution and escalates with vendors as required.
  • Develop and manage project plans, including contingency planning
  • Identify and manage potential risks and issues of projects
  • Delegate and assign project tasks to team members best positioned to complete them
  • Coordinate the development of rollout strategies including managing organizational and clinical change and ensuring that there is appropriate training and support for staff as part of project implementation.
  • Uses effective communication strategies to support change management
  • Ensure that staff have the appropriate technical, clinical and project management skills for successful completion of their assignments.
  • Work with user groups to review processes and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Serving as point of contact for teams when multiple areas are involved in the same project/initiative to ensure teamactions remains in synergy
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of project indicators
  • Prepare and present reports and power point presentations.
  • Systems/Solution Review, Design and Vendor Management
  • Monitor vendor compliance with the terms of the negotiated contract and recommend payment against the schedules as required.
  • Lead and facilitate system solution review and design sessions with clinical areas as necessary to ensure delivery of solution that meet the clinical needs
  • Prepare and facilitate data collection and analysis for departmental/corporate technology assessment.

Systems Implementation:


  • Integrate project plans and timeframes with Information Technology Services, departments and clinical programs.
  • Recommend and coordinate appropriate resources across the hospital to accomplish systems implementation within established project timeframes.
  • Work within the capital allocation to ensure that systems are implemented with the best use of resources, examining the tradeoffs between external contractors and internal resources.

Secondary Responsibilities:


  • Assist program and department Directors in planning for the clinical impact of changes related to system implementation
  • Assist program and department leaders to maintain department operations during systems transition
  • Make recommendations for supports required to maintain systems on an ongoing basis.

Decision Making:


  • Resource allocation decisions, setting priorities for the team ensuring crossfunctional integration issues are considered and that realistic project timelines are laid out
  • Policy interpretation
  • Impact on staff: ensuring that decisions are made that have the least amount of impact to service levels
  • Technology recommendations

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management or clinical
  • Health Professional designation is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a health care environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of formal Project Management experience, with a leadership role in the implementation of Clinical Information Systems.
  • Understanding of Project Management framework
  • Demonstrated successful experience leading clinical change management for IT systems
  • Demonstrated successful project management of a medium to large IT system preferred.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Hospital Information Systems including design and configuration is required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to make important decisions under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, team work and leadership.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products & project planning software required
  • Ability to facilitate the achievement of milestones/deadlines
  • Experience with preparation, monitoring, analysis and evaluation of project costs
  • Autonomous, independent worker
  • Ability to exert influence and work successfully in matrix reporting relationships
  • Ability to be flexible in hours worked including some work after hours and on weekends
  • Good work and attendance record required
