ProfileThis position is within the Air Safety Investigation Office, reporting into the Airworthiness Engineering Department.
In this role you will be responsible for working with Safety Boards worldwide, as they conduct air safety investigations, as defined by ICAO Annex 13, on all De Haviland Canada product lines.
Duties & Responsibilities- Maintain the Air Safety Investigation Office database of all (ICAO Annex 13) Incidents and Accidents on all our Product Lines. Information on events is to be gathered from various sources daily.
- Act as a Technical Representative of De Havilland Canada in formal Accident Investigations.
- Available to travel with limited to no advance notice to support investigations worldwide.
- Available to travel with Canada to De Havilland Canada's offices to support departmental requirements
- Support the investigation and establishment of corrective actions for issues affecting the safety of the aircraft as a whole or for any component, system or structural assembly.
- Support to the Continuing Airworthiness Corrective Action process, including risk assessment and corrective action plan development, in accordance with the established procedures.
- Analyze and report on data trends within the Product Lines.
- Prepare reports on event trends on a scheduled basis.
- Prepare and present ASIO presentations on specific events and for Customer facing events.
- Modernization and maintenance of the current Air Safety Investigation Office incident tracking database.
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, aeronautical, or mechanical engineering, or a combination of relevant education and work experience
Experience and Requirements
- You are selfmotivated and have good planning and organizational skills.
- You have good problem solving skills.
- You can function in a high stress and pressure environment while deployed for investigations
- Good communications skills (both written and verbal) for liaising with different technical groups, as well as the worldwide net of National Safety Boards.
- You have a minimum 10 years of experience in Engineering, Flight Operations, and/or aircraft maintenance related environment.
- You understand aircraft systems, general engineering, and flight operations on all De Havilland products.
- Ability to read engineering technical information, including technical drawings, certification and production documentation and reports.
- Holding a Pilot License is an asset
- You understand civil/commercial aircraft certification and regulation requirements
- You are able to travel to remote locations for short periods to participate in active Investigations with short notice.
- You will have completed a recognized Program for Accident Investigation.
