Food Division Manager

What you'll do:


As the Food Division Manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leading the development for growth and business development with a 1-3-year focus within the Food Division.

You will lead corporate performance management, strategic planning, marketing, facilities management and operations, risk management, and annual operating and capital budgets in alignment with our Values, Vision, Mission, Culture, and Brand.


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Senior Leadership Team to provide guidance and support in Food sales growth, financial, and operational improvements.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the operations of the Food Division to achieve growth and business development objectives.
  • Accountable for the overall management of the Food Division business plan and budget to meet sales, expense, and profit objectives.
  • Prioritize growth initiatives across divisions based on corporate goals and Local Coop capacity.
  • Support and implement successful Food marketing campaigns to support division goals.
  • Participate in the coordination and planning of feasibility studies, new projects, and renovation projects.
  • Develop annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and business plans for Food division that support the corporate goals.
  • Be responsible for the enhancement and development of policies, procedures, and processes to support the division's goals, key activities, and programs.
  • Participate in strategic planning, annual planning, and goal setting; and ensure marketing efforts support the Strategic Plan / Annual Plan / Budget.
  • Provide leadership to the Food Division team, which includes team members and team leaders. Be responsible for the talent management cycle, including Orientation and Onboarding, Succession Planning, Performance Management, etc.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management in providing for the health, safety, and security of all employees and operational assets.

Who you are:


  • Have a minimum of 812 years of progressive relevant experience in the retail industry, experience specifically related to Food/Grocery retail.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years progressive experience leading technical, professional, or management employees.
  • Hold an Undergraduate Degree, with a preference for Business, Commerce, Operations Management, or a relevant discipline.
  • Have strong business acumen, including wellbalanced strategic and tactical agility, and understanding of financial aspects of running the division, a thorough understanding of operations, marketing, human resources and administration.
  • Experience in developing relationships with external and internal customers on complex issues and transactions.
  • Ability to control operational costs, maximize operational efficiency and improve sales and growth margin.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (including Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Have excellent internal and external customer service skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills with a strong focus on employee engagement.
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.


This position will require regular travel between locations in our trading areas, and some travel outside our trading area for business needs as required.
