The Resource Scheduling Specialist will be responsible for the short as well as long-term scheduling and forecasting needs of our Production team.
Responsible for planning and reporting of manpower schedules for a large unionized workforce and assisting management with meeting corporate objectives.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to assume the function of Resource Scheduling Specialist.Responsibilities
- Forecast short and long term staffing needs by analyzing ongoing operations' throughput
- Monitor various work queues to assist with manpower planning
- Monitor long term vacancies and vacation levels and bring manpower shortages to management's attention
- Develop advanced planning of staffing levels a month in advance in response to operational changes of the monthly headcount targets
- Liaison with Team Leaders to understand workforce capabilities and skills to plan better work allotment
- Communicate schedules and assignments directly to Team leaders
- Record keeping of planning assignments and work distribution, preparing documents for planning meetings and potential grievances
- Identifying and communicating workforce trends to the business to highlight future resourcing opportunities and risks
- Take initiative in identifying schedule opportunities and risks and implementing solutions
- Support the leadership team and _perform any other_ duties as required or assigned
- Publish schedules and overtime plans for multiple departments across different classifications
- Working closely with HR and business leaders to integrate standardized workforce planning practices into the organization
- Analyzing workforce and skill gaps, and developing a workforce planning action plan including monitoring progress and updating management
- Liaise with management and union representatives to address concerns
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement
- Long term goal to work towards the development of daily staff rosters
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal skills including well developed conflict resolution skills
- Excellent ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
- Prioritization and time management skills
- Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills in a team environment.
- Detail oriented, well organized, and able to manage time and multitask to accomplish a variety of tasks, sometimes with conflicting priorities and timelines
- Ability to effectively work with a significant amount of detail while maintaining perspective on broader objectives.

- Work well under pressure in a time sensitive environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work both independently, as well as contribute to a team environment.
- Deal effectively with employees' concerns and issues regarding their schedules
- High energy with solid planning skills
- Ability to establish work priorities and perform while under tight deadlines
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Experience with database ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, MS Access)
Must be authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship. Official Social Insurance Number documentation must be presented at interview.
