Vapor Blast Technician

Classification: 30-45 Day Project

We offer the full suite of maintenance and turnaround services including hydro blasting, hydro cutting, hydro excavation, chemical cleaning, PEPTM polymer extraction service, vacuum services, tank cleaning, degassing/vapor control, FCC catalyst handling and transportation, pigging and decoking, and specialty turnaround services.

Summary/Objective:


Responsibilities:


  • Travel to client sites and operate the Vapor Blast unit to clean and prepare surfaces.
  • Set up all necessary equipment according to operational and training guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and practices, including but not limited to personal protective gear.
  • Ability to work safely in and around heavy machinery in loud, hazardous, and rich industrial settings.
  • Manually clean, install, and fit repair valves, caps, hoses, pumps, gaskets, and all other external and internal equipment on tanks.
  • Support all project needs for all DeBusk service lines, as required.
  • Assist in the inspection of equipment, hoses, connections, pumps, and general work area before starting any job.

Qualifications:


  • Sandblasting experience is preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication in spoken and written English.
  • Refinery, Upgrading, and Petrochemical plant experience an asset
  • Must be able to travel and work away from home.
  • Respond to emergency calls 24 hours, 7 days a week if called upon.
  • Ability to work for extended periods within a confined space, in extreme temperature environments, and at high elevations.
  • Ability to perform duties by training and standard operating procedures, Ability to understand and follow specific procedures and directions.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to lift, move and handle up to 50lb. hoses
  • Physically capable of standing and walking continuously for long periods if necessary.
  • Physically capable of entering process equipment through manways.
  • Physically capable of climbing, balancing, bending/stooping, and kneeling continuously.
  • Physically capable of climbing ladders and scaffolds (vertical and inclined) to heights more than 10' ft.
  • Physically capable of frequently crouching, pushing/pulling, squatting, and working above the shoulders during the performance of the daily job routine.
