General Accountability:


  • This position is responsible for assisting in managing activities associated with the assessment, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement of all subway related track & structures assets. This includes overseeing planning, scheduling and implementing programs, goals and objectives. The incumbent provides technical guidance, direction, coordination and management of multiple work groups assigned to complete all maintenance and rehabilitation activities and monitor progress, production and schedule adherence. The incumbent also prepares reports and recommendations related to areas of responsibility; determines work, annual key performance indicator targets, goals and objectives and develops associated budgets and schedules and ensures employee safety through training, supervision, and auditing. Investigate all workplace and employee matters related to Safety, Corporate Policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Key Job Functions:


  • Oversee, plan, schedule and implement programs as well as provide technical guidance, direction, coordination and management of multiple work groups assigned to complete all maintenance and rehabilitation activities.
  • Conduct and coordinate inspections of all subway stations and trackrelated structures in order to develop a comprehensive inventory and record of repairs.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the work of staff to ensure the efficient delivery of section services, schedule adherence and safety protocols.
  • Prepare and present oral/written reports and recommendations, and update the Manager on ongoing activities and unusual problems.
  • Foster and promote a safe working environment through effective training and leadership
  • Coordinating construction activities with other sections and TTC departments to ensure optimum utilization of resources during alternate service arrangements (e.g. work cars, power cuts, heavy equipment and tools).
  • Conducting periodic meetings with supervisory staff to ensure enhanced communications and effectiveness with respect to performance and safety measured against sections goals and objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Monitoring the ordering of various supplies, materials and equipment and arranging for distribution to various work locations; ensuring that vital supplies/materials are available for immediate usage, ensuring purchase authorization policies are met, ensure material and tool audits are carried out and participate in third party audits.
  • Liaising with other TTC departments and external agencies, authorities, consultants and contractors regarding areas of responsibility.
  • Ensuring that rules and regulations relative to the Collective Agreement, Commission/Department policies and government legislation are satisfied and are applied fairly and consistently across all workforce locations and shifts.
  • Participate as a key stakeholder representing the section amongst other stakeholders for service closures to accommodate focused projects or tasks in order to meet the needs of other Departments, Projects and Corporate Initiatives.
  • Ensuring adherence to the OHSA including all TTC safety related practices and policies, includes Safety Talk Meetings and Safety Quality Control and Quality Assurance audits across the sections.
  • Ensuring and enforcing compliance of work car safety and operating rules and training, and refreshers.
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a serviceprovider and an employer.
