Job Description:


Eataly's bustling marketplaces contain a variety of quick service counters featuring coffee and drinks, pastries and gelato, pizza and focaccia, paninis and grab-and-go meal options.


Within the broader department, there is a growing need for leadership and oversight specifically within the coffee program (both Gran Caffè and Caffè Vergnano).


The Coffee Specialist will work within the QSR leadership team, supporting the day-to-day operations of the QSR counters with a special focus on coffee operations.

Reports to the QSR General Manager and the QSR Assistant General Managers; supports the ongoing training and development of QSR Baristas.


  • Maintains a steady presence on the floor, interacting with guests, team members and vendors to ensure Eataly's operations are running smoothly and high hospitality standards are met
  • Trains, motivates, mentors and organizes QSR Baristas
  • Oversees the weekly recording of waste transfers from both caffès
  • Ensures inventory and restock sheets, Catapult and rail tags/signage from Graphics are kept up to date
  • Offers insights and suggestions to maximize sales
  • Purchases supplies, beverages and equipment per the direction of the QSR General Manager
  • Monitors inventory, checks orders and distributes supplies as needed throughout the department
  • Manages transactions and ensures accurate accounting
  • Records shift notes and assists with administrative duties such as scheduling when needed
  • Ensures department complies with all quality, health, safety and sanitation standards
  • Documents, investigates and resolves guest incidents
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:


  • High school graduate or equivalent; postsecondary degree preferred
  • 2+ years of lead or supervisory experience in food service
  • Math skills and ability to handle money accurately
  • Knowledge of steps of service
  • Excellent communication and problemsolving skills
  • Knowledge of coffee and coffee production
  • Knowledge of Italian cuisine and beverage preferred
  • SmartServe Certified

Job Requirements

  • Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to exert wellpaced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
  • Ability to operate equipment such as manual espresso machine, drink blender, juicer and cash register
