What Is The Opportunity


Aecon is seeking a Project Manager to join the Urban Transportations Solutions group to support a dynamic, transit project in the Greater Toronto Area.

As a Project Manager you will be accountable for ensuring all construction project management activities are successfully executed.

We are looking for Project Managers who are experienced in one or more of the following disciplines:


  • Heavy Rail
  • Rail Infrastructure and Heavy Civil.
  • Utilities.
  • Industrial, Commercial, Institutional (ICI).
  • Mechanical and Electrical.

What You Will Do Here

  • Establishes construction infrastructure and critical path.
  • Establishing and maintaining project budget.
  • Enforces change procedures.
  • Establishes schedule and staffing plans.
  • Executes contracts and agreements in a timely and costeffective manner.
  • Chairs project management meetings with a focus on the best outcomes for the project.
  • Ensures all project reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Oversees testing, quality, and safety.
  • Manages client and vendor relationship.
  • Project risks and issues are logged and managed.
  • Ensures all project closeout activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates commercial acumen to protect profits and improve margins.
  • Business development, including participation in costing and estimating activities and risk analysis.
  • Financial forecasting and contributing to creation of revenue targets.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Postsecondary education in engineering, construction management, or equivalent discipline.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the rail industry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 510 years of progressive experience in civils construction, track, buildings, Utilities, M&E, or related disciplines is required.
  • General knowledge of nonresidential construction methods, building systems, and terminology.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
  • Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential, experience of using estimating software is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Skilled at building positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
