Motion is looking to add a General Manager to our team in Hamilton This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday during regular business hours.

The role:

We are adding an experienced and strategic General Manager to our team in Hamilton.

The General Manager will take ownership of all aspects of business in the location including finances, administration, sales, service, and people & culture.

The main priorities in this role will be to ensure continuity of current processes, to maintain an exceptional client experience, and to drive revenue.

With over 30 employees, Hamilton is Motion's second largest location and is well established in the community. The team is highly engaged with a very positive culture.


How you will spend your days:


  • Fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. You will meet with store leaders and staff on a regular basis to understand needs, gaps, barriers, and celebrate successes. You will host regular meetings to measure success, introduce solutions, share knowledge, and ensure a high level of transparency and clear communication.

Driving business development. You will collaborate with our sales teams to ensure Motion is the first choice in your region for accessibility and mobility equipment for home and facility use. You will offer insights, guidance, and motivation; support sales efforts, set targets, and empower the team to exceed expectations. You will establish and nurture relationships within the community to support the region's growth.

Regional operations. You will lead the strategic and operational execution of our growth revenue plan for your region. You will create and implement processes, evaluate resources and skills, oversee inventory management, and implement plans to drive efficiency.

Driving strategic planning & results. You will develop strategies to continually improve individual client acquisition and retention. You will manage and report on all facets of the business, completing month-end, quarterly, and yearly reporting. You will analyze data and critically assess your business to accurately forecast revenue levels and establish appropriate targets to achieve committed goals. You will review, develop, and implement procedures that enhance the employee and client experience.


What you bring:

Experience. You are a strategic, service-oriented leader with progressive supervisory and management experience in a multi-retail or branch environment. You have exposure across all facets of retail management, including administrative, recruitment, performance, inventory, financial, sales and marketing, and operations. You can balance competing demands, meet deadlines, and change priorities as needed.

People management expertise. You have an exceptional ability to nurture positive relationships. You have experience leading mid-sized teams and you bring strong values of respect, responsiveness, and an outstanding work ethic with you. You are empathetic, patient and service-oriented, with conflict management skills. You can build trust, influence decisions, and motivate a team. You have an appreciation for diverse opinions and involve your team in decision-making and process-creation whenever possible. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working with internal and external teams to grow business and satisfy customers.

Technical Skills. You are experienced with Microsoft Office Suite and can come up to speed on new software programs, including our ERP and scheduling system.

Additional must-have requirements. You have a valid G-class driver's license and a clean driving record. You have the flexibility to travel to other locations as part of your onboarding, including St. Catharines, Mississauga, and Toronto. You have a clean criminal background check and are bondable. You can lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
