The Quality Assurance & Project Lead role:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Quality Assurance & Project Head is a unique multi-faceted role with responsibility for quality, both QA and QC, ensuring Medallion continues to produce a world class product, meeting and exceeding CFIA and FSSC standards.

Leading Product Development is also a central role. One of Medallion's key strategies is to create new and innovative products.

We have just brought to market a chocolate milk powder and there are lots of other products coming close behind.

Also important is overseeing equipment, including automated lines.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include:


  • HACCP & FSSC
  • Food Safety Plans. SOP, GMP & Work instructions. Production logs and checklists. CCP monitoring. Corrective and preventative actions. Team member training.
  • Oversight of company formulas, recipes, and product build compliance.
  • Nutrition panel & packaging compliance.
  • CFIA, FSSC 22000, Kosher, Halal, & customer specific relationships and audits.
  • Managing quality related customer requests.
  • Maintaining supplier program. Qualifying and approving new ingredients, supplies, and suppliers.
  • QC including swab and other inhouse testing. External testing. Monitoring results. Managing testing requirements. Oversight of laboratory.
  • Mock recall exercises and keeping recall program always updated.
  • Preventative equipment maintenance. Oversight of regular cleaning and validation.
  • Understanding equipment automation. Technical SOP creation. Working with production, outside consultants to solve equipment issues.
  • Oversight of product development. Working closely with General Manager. Research and identifying ingredients. Formulation. Nutrition tables. Product specification sheets. Shelflife testing. Packaging and labeling specifications.
  • Oversight of SR&ED program.


Demonstrated experience in the above areas, HACCP Certification, and a post secondary degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related discipline are sought after.

Direct work experience in a supervisory or leadership role is an asset. Effective communication and a keen eye for detail is imperative.
