Job Description:

The
M&E Commissioning Manager works with project teams through the construction, startup and final commissioning of projects.

This individual will be required to assist in the tendering process and onboarding of the technical sub-trades, risk management, quality assurance and control, commissioning, and close out of complex, multi-disciplinary construction projects.

Effective communication with the project manager, consultants, subcontracts, and site supervision while keeping abreast of the project specifications and changes to the work is an important aspect of the position.

The Manager's chief responsibility is overseeing the construction, startup and commissioning of the mechanical, electrical and process systems on assigned projects.

This person will be required to implement and maintain this process on multiple projects at a time.

  • Ensures the reviews of building system trades' progress for compliance with drawings, specifications, quality, schedule, and construct ability. Identifies risks and opportunities and communicates to the project team.
  • Provides input on schedule development and implementation to the project team as they pertain to the execution of building systems.
  • Reviews and understands prime contract and building systems subcontract details. Identifies and communicates risks and opportunities to the project team and ensures contract management of the trade contractors.
  • When required, writes projectspecific scopes for building systems trades for inclusion in the subcontract.
  • If requested, reviews and advises on submitted change notice pricing related to building systems and assesses their effect on the project budget, scope, and schedule.
  • Provides direction to the project teams, consultants, and trade contractors through the designbuild process.

Qualifications:


  • Trades person or postsecondary diploma/degree in a related discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls).
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical/electrical construction, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, principles, and practices.
  • Intermediate understanding of key building systems, including electrical, security, fire alarm, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), building automaton systems (BAS) and information, communication, automaton, and technology (ICAT).
  • Ability to facilitate the coordination of mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil, and structural drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of various construction methods.
  • Diverse experience in project types and contract delivery methods.
  • Understanding of building envelope/enclosure/air vapor barriers.
  • Understanding of vertical and horizontal (elevator and escalator) installations and technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical plans, specifications, methods, and procedures.
