The Corrosion Prevention Department ensures Enbridge's steel gas plant are at optimum cathodic protection levels to prevent premature corrosion, thereby extending the life of the company's assets and maintaining a safe infrastructure.


This role requires a self-motivated individual who can plan and work on their own, but also have the ability and desire to assist team members in solving and completing multiple tasks when required.

The Inspector II Corrosion Prevention role requires analytical and technical skills along with the strive to solve problems.

This position is a field role which requires accompanied electronic work such as record investigation and data entry on multiple platforms and systems.


What You Will Do- Perform corrosion fault finding, investigative surveys and mitigation including: identifying above-ground short-circuits, determining location of below-ground short-circuits (points of contact with other underground structures), recommending sacrificial or impressed current systems, induced AC voltage mitigation, identifying shorted casings, interference testing and mitigation from DC transit systems and/or other utilities.- Provide technical support and information to various groups including Operations and Construction to ensure procedures related to cathodic protection are continually followed.- Organize and interpret CP data creating efficient and cost-effective remedial work decisions.- Provide sophisticated project management support to contractors' safety, quality assurance, status reporting and efficiencies.- Ensure accurate operation of the rectifier system including repairs to DC electrical components and remote monitoring equipment.- Act as liaison between Engineering - Pipeline Integrity, Distribution Planning and Operations with respect to specific legislated surveys (Direct Assessment and/or In Line Inspection).- Review and recommend solutions in the detailed design of cathodic protection systems for new steel plant.- Complete remote monitoring unit (RMU) installation and repair.

Who You Are


You have the following:

  • Related postsecondary education and 2 years' experience OR 4+ years of previous field operations experience. An equivalent mix of formal education and experience may be considered.
  • Recommended NACE CP 1 CP Tester or CP1 Qualification as well as previous corrosion field work experience. Proven dedication to continual upgrade and/or maintain NACE certifications.
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical circuits and design, corrosion prevention theory and cathodic protection mitigation techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Enbridge systems, policies and procedures.
  • Digital literacy and proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, field notes, aslaid drawings, etc.
  • Strong ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Capable of detecting highpitched sounds and frequencies through a receiver used during troubleshooting survey.
  • Ability and desire to work at an accelerated pace when involved with project/construction activities.
Working Conditions

This role is comprised of both field and office work (70% and 30%, respectively).

A valid Ontario "G" Driver's license, a reliable vehicle and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required.- Overtime may be required in this role.
