Role:


Reporting to the Deputy Minister, Immigration and Multiculturalism, the Assistant Deputy Minister, Newcomers and Multicultural Supports will provide oversight and influence policy development supporting government priorities that make Alberta a more welcoming and livable province for racialized groups, Indigenous People and immigrants.


In this role, you will lead the creation and maintenance of polices, programs and strategies to support new immigrants to Alberta, anti-racism initiatives and promote the benefits of a multicultural society.

You will be accountable for the development and management of grant programs to support program initiatives such as the newcomers access to English and Second Language training and settlement services.

You will contribute to enhancing funding opportunities for mentoring, labour attachment, and other related labour market integration programs for immigrants and newcomers.

You will also collaborate with key stakeholders in Advanced Education on supporting and guiding work on increasing and accelerating auto-credentialing for workers.


As a member of the Executive Team, you will focus on driving and supporting alignment between the priorities and activities of the ministry's stakeholders and the department, delivering programming and ensuring the ministry's business planning and corporate services are completed effectively.

You will also contribute to the overall effective management of the financial and human resources assigned, communicates the vision, and ensure the focus is on the goals, priorities and measures of the Division and the Department Business Plan


With your seasoned talent, strategic policy and program development, combined with advanced stakeholder experience, you will integrate a collaborative work style, leverage and facilitate good working relationships with stakeholders to enhance services and improve outcomes.

Your strategic thinking, strong communication skills, and expertise in consensus building will be essential in your success.


Qualifications:


As an influential and highly credible leader, you bring extensive related executive management experience and demonstrated strengths in leading strategic policy, programs development and enhancing stakeholder relationships.


Excellent strategic skills, an ability to distil complex issues, and big picture thinking as well as advanced/strong political acumen and thorough understanding of government policies and decision-making process.

Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to support and empower a team of executive directors and senior managers to fulfill expectations and deliver on key government priorities will ensure success in this role.

Proficient understanding of grants management related to newcomer supports, multiculturalism, and anti-racism programs will be an asset. A Master's level degree in a related field is preferred.


Salary:

$5, $7,804.21 bi-weekly ($155,206 - $203,690 yearly)
