The Centre for Studies in Religion and Society (CSRS) is the leading Centre in Canada for interdisciplinary research on topics at the intersection of religion and public life.

We are involved in national scholarly and public policy research networks, sponsor visiting fellowships for senior and junior scholars and members of the community and produce a dynamic annual program of public lectures and seminars.

The Centre has an opportunity for a colleague with a passion for the humanities and social sciences, and an interest in being involved in Centre communications, assisting in program coordination and facilitating Centre events.


The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range:
$54,677- $60,270
starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.


Performance range:
starting salary to max of $71,080
is available through annual performance increases.

  • Job SummaryReporting to the Program and Research Coordinator, the Program and Communications Associate is responsible for the planning, coordination, and administration of many CSRS events. This position is a key resource to the CSRS Director and the Program and Research Coordinator with the coordination and seamless delivery of essential events programming at the Centre, including the weekly CSRS lecture series, the "John Albert Hall Lecture Series," the coffee talk program, and the summer lecture series. Additionally, this position will coordinate the communications work of the Centre (including web, print and special events communications), and assist with research tasks related to the management of a busy interdisciplinary research centre. This position will support programs, initiatives and events hosted by the CSRS that may take place in the evenings and/or on the weekends and requires the ability and willingness to work these hours as required.

  • Knowledge requirements include:
  • Thorough understanding of event planning and management
  • Competency requirements include:
  • Strong communications skills, both written and interpersonal
  • Ability to work crossculturally, with demonstrated respect, diplomacy and tact, and ability to contribute ideas
  • Problem solve with confidence and maturity with a wide range of people
  • Willingness to work as part of a small team with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with service providers, national and international clientele, and interact professionally with event participants
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, resourcefulness and creativity with the ability to manage multiple requests and challenges with exceptional attention to detail is essential.

  • Familiarity with editing tools and software
