In this role you will be responsible for SMT component replacement including micro-components, BGA's, connectors both SMT and SMT/Thru hole combinations, perform lifted/damaged pad repairs and track cuts and working on Thru-hole component removal and insertion.

Working with technical staff to receive and interpret direction and responsible for prioritizing daily work by production needs, RMA's and Return to Customer defects.

On occasion working with engineers to perform modifications to PCBA.

What the job is all about:

  • Prepping boards for repair include:
  • Dismantling fully/partially assembled boards
  • Baking boards, and logging times, in preparation for rework
  • Ability to make choices, based on board damage or difficulty of task, on whether or not a defect is repairable or scrap
  • Multitasking is always necessary as production requirements can affect prioritization of repairs
  • Creativity is necessary when working with densely populated boards to get components on and off
  • Accurately interprets and enters defect information within MES.
  • Works closely with SMT and Mechanical Support staff
  • Maintaining ESD practices.

You should have:


  • An understanding of the X-Ray machine in order to deduce whether or not the solder quality adheres to IPC Standards
  • An Excellent understanding of IPC-610 quality standards
  • Knowledge of various tools hot air guns, preheaters and traditional soldering/desoldering tools and tips
  • Air Vac is used for removing and replacing microcomponents, BGA's, Flip Chips and connectors.

The necessary knowledge for running this equipment include:

  • Stencil and paste process
  • Creating profiles using solder sample boards and thermo couples
  • Reballing BGA's

Bonus points if you have the following:

  • An Excellent understanding of IPC-610 quality standards
  • MES system
