Reporting to the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, the Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for the development and facilitation of company safety and environmental programs.

He/she ensures compliance with government standards, monitors industry trends to ensure all programs are current and develops the necessary tools to facilitate programs.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Accident investigation and followup with department personnel and safety reps.
  • Provide support for corrective actions and strategies.
  • Coordinate return to work and WCB claims.
  • Prepare and analyze accident records to determine root causes that need to be addressed to reduce the frequency of injuries and promote continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with enforcement agencies should they get involved following an accident.
  • Conduct employee orientations and address any safety related requirements for new employees.
  • Develop and facilitate safety training programs and ensure all programs remain current and relevant.
  • Work with department personnel and management to maintain high levels of compliance and awareness for safety and environmental issues.
  • Conduct safety and environmental compliance inspections.
  • Through use of newsletters, videos, handouts, seminars, toolbox talks, work to improve image, awareness, and morale in the areas of safety and environmental.
  • Manage training records and knowledge requirements.
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication with all levels of the Company. Interact with all relevant stakeholders in support of Winpak's TQI program.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Perform back up activities for the Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Manager, in his/her absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety; must be willing to continue education to maintain effectiveness in safety and environmental issues.
  • 3 5 years hands experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to deal with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven TQI skills, strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Health & Safety regulations, guidelines. Manitoba Workplace Safety legislation
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
  • Other combinations of education, experience, knowledge, and skills will be considered
  • Good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizations skills
  • Experience in injury claim management
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to deliver training topics as a trainer
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Returntowork programs
