Drayton Valley Addiction & Mental Health Child & Youth Program has a unique opportunity for a Family Counsellor to join our team The Family Counsellor is responsible for providing assessment/diagnosis, treatment services and follow-up to a varied caseload consisting of individuals and families who are experiencing distress related to moderate to severe mental illness.

This is a specialized discipline working from a systemic theoretical and experiential background. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals. Collaborating with Drayton Valley's overarching Children's Team. You understand the complex relationships between the youth's physical, emotional, mental, developmental and spiritual health.


Description:
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families.

You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community.

You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master's degree in Psychology; master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization), master's degree in marriage and family therapy, including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master's degree in Nursing


Preferred Qualifications:

Additional post-graduate experience working with children, youth and families with complex needs.
