Position Overview:
Oversees and provides overall direction to a large team within Fund Accounting and ensures that daily net asset values are calculated in a timely and accurate manner, controls are adequate and distributions, financial statements and tax adjustments are made properly.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and monitor the activities of a larger Fund Accounting team to ensure deadlines are met and accuracy is maintained by working with the unit's management team to coordinate resources and workflows. Works closely with Financial Reporting and Tax to ensure reports and financial statements are completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Oversees the ongoing supervision and development of Investment Fund Accounting staff, works with management team within Fund Accounting to coordinate activities, participate in setting department objectives and ensure objectives are attained.
- Maintaining current knowledge of the fund accounting and tax requirements of the client's investment vehicle. Oversee that the training and knowledge are being maintained across the teams.
- Ensure all appropriate controls are implemented and maintained, in addition to ensuring proper system and pricing support by liaising with both 3rd party and inhouse service providers.
- Maintain open lines of communications with internal departments to resolve issues at all levels and provide superior client service.
- Along with the AVP represents Fund Accounting with respect to the launch of new mutual funds, new products and for changes to existing mutual funds
- Responding to client inquiries related to the daily fund accounting inquiries, distribution and financial reporting of their investments.
- Responsible for managing the SOC audit and external audit, and updating the department and client specific policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Specific Knowledge & Skills (not preferred or an asset)
- University degree with concentration in accounting
- Professional Accounting designation is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in fund valuations
- Management experience of groups in excess of 15 people
- Superior knowledge of basic accounting principles, financial statement preparation and tax regulations
