People and Culture Business Partner (HR Business Partner) you'll support our Canadian Home Delivery teams in Burnaby and Toronto, as well as our Customer Care team in Vancouver and remotely across Canada. This position reports to the Senior Manager, People and Culture in Vancouver, Canada.

this is a 12-month fixed-term contract position

This role will support our Burnaby Home Delivery team and some Vancouver HQ employees, so some on-site days will be required.

Due to the distributed nature of our teams, this role will typically work earlier hours (eg. starting at 8am PST) to support our East Coast employees.


What You'll Do:


  • Provide effective first line P&C support to employee and manager inquiries on various P&C related topics.
  • Partner with department leaders to identify gaps and propose solutions that support overall strategic plans.
  • Support Managers through coaching performance management and improvement in order to assist in the creation/follow up of action plans around improving employee performance.
  • Drive insights from our engagement survey data, evaluate existing strategies and formulate plans in conjunction with site leaders, to execute plans relating to engagement of our talent.
  • Create, analyze, report and manipulate data as it relates to HR metrics.
  • Stay abreast of changing legal and talent management best practices.
  • Support operational workforce planning and support hiring managers to determine resourcing needs and develop necessary information to support job leveling to prepare for hiring.
  • Administration of P&C practices, systems, programs, and policies in the assigned area to ensure company compliance with employment standards.
  • Lead and conduct investigations regarding violations of our company's standards of conduct etc.
  • Supporting the performance review and compensation process through training and partnering with line leadership to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Onboarding new hires, which may include drafting offer letters, completing new hire onboarding in our HRIS (BambooHR), leading orientation, reviewing the employee handbook, and coordinating training as needed.
  • Offboard employees including conducting exit interviews to identify issues in the team/department and provide recommendations on action plans for improvement. Monitor and report on trends.
  • Ensure data integrity in our HRIS system.
  • Lead and partner on initiatives and projects that impact the employee experience within your client groups.

Who Are You:


  • 7+ years of experience in Human Resources in a business partner and/or generalist capacity
  • Experience working in a fastpaced environment, and experience working with frontline teams (ideally across multiple locations) is an asset
  • Good understanding of HR legislation in both British Columbia and Ontario (e.g. employment standards, human rights, health & safety, privacy laws, etc)
  • A degree in HR management, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • CPHR or working towards one preferred.
  • An ownership mindset and are accountable to the business and the team
  • Strong customer focus and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully work with individuals at various levels of the organization.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Office or Google suite.
  • Growthoriented and adaptable to change, comfortable with ambiguity and using judgment.
  • Ability to travel to Ontario on a regular basis (approx. quarterly) as well and possible travel to the United States
