Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our nextProfessor, Industrial Painting
The Centre for Community Partnerships and Experiential Learning requires a part-time professor.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Community Partnerships and learning, professors are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment using a blended model of presentation in collaboration with high school teachers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Providing educational delivery and experiences through in-person lectures and labs, as well as the use of on-line educational technology and learning management systems (i.e. MyCanvas), both synchronous and asynchronous.
- Using a variety of teaching and learning strategies such as Experiential Learning (EL), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), adaptive technology, alternative delivery methodologies.
- Creating a positive and innovative studentcentred learning environment both in the classroom and online, which uphold the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
- Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement.
- Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
- The successful applicant/s will be expected to develop, evaluate, revise and deliver academic curriculum cooperatively with other professors, and in adherence to academic quality, college policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must have:
years experience as a Spray Painter in an industrial environment (ideally marine).
- College/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
- Must be able to work from Manufacturing Routings (Work Orders).
- Previous teaching/mentoring apprentice experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students, Indigenous students, firstgeneration students and students requiring accommodation is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. d2L, Canvas).
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively interculturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
