Job Summary


The Expert, Vendor Management is responsible for analyzing and overseeing the performance of contracted vendors across Information and Technology (I&T).

The role analyzes vendor performance to assess compliance-to-contract, identifies opportunities for consolidation and contract performance deficiencies or areas of performance improvement.

The incumbent works directly with the Manager, Managed Service, Vendor Partner Office (VPO)to ensure the effective management of vendor relationships and outcomes to minimize duplication of effort.

Moreover, the incumbent must understand and lead contractual, commercial, and operational working relationships with vendors to ensure effective delivery of committed goods and services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure departmental compliance with established accounting policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with I&T partners to aggregate vendor contract performance data and followup
  • Coordinate with I&T and vendors on contracting and invoicing process improvements and assist in working with vendors on corrective action programs
  • Assist with the implementation of any negotiated scope changes to contracts in the form of purchase orders, invoices, or statements of work
  • Develop standard and ad hoc reports to support vendor management, compliance validation, operational oversight, and overall vendor spending
  • Leverage and support the maintenance and enhancement of tools for use in vendor management
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to execute established practices for vendor selection
  • Support Manager, Managed Service, VPO in establishing internal and external policies, standards, methodologies, and templates for vendor interaction and conduct duties in alignment with the policies, standards and processes
  • Work with Procurement and Supply Management (P&SM) in the maintenance of contractual agreements with vendors to ensure that they are up to date and compliant with relevant laws and regulations
  • Ensure the financial aspects of vendor contracts are handled
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday.

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.

The role requires mínimal travel (5%) within Canada and the United States (U.S.).


Requirements:

Experience

Vendor Management

  • Minimum 10 years of overall work experience
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrating technical leadership qualities or overseeing deliverables
  • Between 3 to 5 years of lead level experience developing and implementing strategies for an I&T vendor and contract management office
Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in I&T, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Excellent communication both, written and verbal
  • Knowledge of CN and the rail industry
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and PowerBi
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
