Janssen Pharmaceutical, Companies of Johnson & Johnson is currently hiring a National Medical Education Manager (NMEM), Oncology, Hematology & Lung, located in Toronto, ON.


The NMEM will lead the development and execution of the national medical education strategic plan for our hematology and lung cancer portfolios.

The NMEM is also responsible for managing a team of Regional Medical Education Mangers (RMEMs).

They are an integral leader on cross-functional teams and will work closely with the Medical Directors in their therapeutic areas (TA) to collaborate on medical strategy.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the development of the National Medical Education Strategy including needs assessments, setting health care professional (HCP) learning objectives and dissemination plan per TA in alignment with the Medical Director
  • Identify national insights on educational gaps and HCP learning needs
  • Oversee the development of educational assets based on identified unmet educational needs, verify national speaker list and select faculty for asset development
  • Oversee the regional development of the tactical plans and team of RMEMs to ensure executional excellence of medical events in the field, including closure and postevent followup, aligned with laws, regulations, policy, and Corporate Compliance
  • Inform the national and international conference strategy
  • Measure and review the impact of Medical Education activities, provide insight analyses and drive quality improvement
  • Responsible for TA budget for Medical Education

People Management and Leadership

  • Supervise RMEMs as they develop and implement their regional plans to ensure strategic alignment and excellence in field execution
  • Provide ongoing support for team member's career goals and personal development plans, including strengthening their pedagogical competence
  • Encourage coordination and collaboration with Medical Affairs team members
  • Attract, develop and retain an industry leading team of RMEMs

Other Responsibilities

  • Understand the needs of the TAs and identify opportunities for education
  • Track KPIs to drive continuous improvement of content and offerings
  • Stay up to date on advances in medical education, technologies, tools and industry trends to support adult learning principles
  • Ongoing coordination, collaboration and partnership with multiple functions including Health Care Compliance, sales, training, marketing, access to effectively implement key activities and support broader business goals

Qualifications:


Education:


  • A minimum of a Masters degree is required, preferably in medical or related health sciences field; an advanced science degree is preferred

Experience and Skills:


Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry or medical education experience is required
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulated standards (IMC Code of Ethical Practices, ICH GCP, cGMPs, or Pharmacovigiliance standards) and experience working with Health Care Compliance functions is required
  • Knowledge of medical education field is required
  • Proficiency in metrics, reporting and communicating complex information at the right tone and breadth is required
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement processes is required
  • Superior attention to detail, project management and issue resolution skills are required
  • Ability to work in team environment is required

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working in Oncology is highly desirable
  • Bilingual: French/English an asset

Other:

  • Strong people management, organizational and prioritization skills are required
  • Strong communication and collaboration skill set with ability to showcase leadership of crossfunctional project team members is required
  • Understanding of agile ways of working and change management/adoption is required
  • This role requires % domestic and international travel
