The TransX Group of Companies has an exciting opportunity for a
Continuous Improvement Specialist to join the Maintenance and Procurement team in our Winnipeg head office.

Reporting to the Quality Systems Manager, the
Continuous Improvement Specialist position will efficiently ensure planning, designing, facilitating, and executing CI and Lean initiatives across the division.

The role is very important for the division's success and will facilitate the shop/support operations for optimal service delivery without failure through achieving higher quality and operational competence.

The role facilitates continuous improvement and Lean in daily operations and engages with key stakeholders to identify best practices that can lead to process innovation, improved productivity, optimal resource utilization, reduced SRT, improved shop uptime, shorter equipment downtime, and advantageous Cost Per Mile.

The role acts as the customer manager throughout the planning, design, implementation, and post-implementation support phase of the CI and Lean projects.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct CI and Lean based-projects across the shop network
  • Consult process documentation and streamlining events to create standards
  • Work with shop management and the other functional teams to assess and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Use data to identify gaps in performance versus targets/objectives, and then work with the shop or concerned teams in establishing and executing the improvement initiative
  • Practice Lean practices that empower employees, accelerate change, and enable personal and team development
  • Utilize and transfer the knowledge of CI and Lean tools, processes, methodologies, best practices, and systems
  • Lead/conduct CI events through handson participation across the network nationwide
  • Work with maintenance teams and other business functions to focus on continuous improvement activities within their areas of responsibilities
  • Provide CI and Lean support to each shop, prioritizing the major shops in the network
  • Work crossfunctionally between the teams to resolve quality issues and drive longterm quality improvements in business processes and operations through CI projects across the business
  • Follow up with the shop teams to audit improvement progress with them to ensure results are achieved and sustained
  • Support a positive and engaging work environment by deploying a set of standards and checklists that will accelerate and simplify quality compliance at shops
  • Drive collaboration mechanisms across nationwide shops to identify synergies
  • Manage changes in implementation details as they occur and communicate appropriately
  • Analyze data to make sound decisions on the suitability and effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

_ Education_

  • Related postsecondary education in business administration or project management is an asset
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma yellow or green belt certification

_ Experience_

  • Passion for making positive change and achieving objectives.
  • Exposure to and/or training in the following would be considered an asset; Lean/Six Sigma methodology, Root Cause Analysis, and Problem solving
  • Understanding of Lean concepts and tools such as Value Stream/Process Mapping, 6S, Kaizan, Gemba, SOP development, etc.
  • Understanding project management principles is an asset
  • Two years of experience in applied process improvement projects
  • Experience working in a team environment and independently with mínimal supervision, business acumen, multitasking, and problemsolving skills
  • Experience in roles involving progressively more leadership responsibilities in the context of continuous improvement and operations management
  • Strong ability to guide, lead and motivate a diverse team
