Qualifications for Vice Principals and Principals

  • Proof of Part I and II of the Principal's Qualification Program (includes completed Practicum)
  • Proof of Special Education, Part I
  • In good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Current performance appraisal (Experienced Teacher Form)
  • Demonstrated evidence of a clear commitment to Employment Equity, Human Rights and the Peel board priorities of dismantling racism, in particular antiBlack racism, and leading through an antioppressive framework
  • Demonstrated evidence of intentional and impactful interruption of acts of oppression and racism against children, youth, families and/or colleagues
  • Demonstrated breadth and depth of leadership ability in a variety of contexts; including strong instructional leadership rooted in modern pedagogies and focused on studentcentred learning approaches
  • Demonstration of transformational leadership that positively impacts student achievement and wellbeing and has been focused on decolonizing the curriculum and learning environment
  • Proven ability to engage communities and lead across intersections in ways that positively impact student success and family engagement
  • Proven ability to cocreate a learning environment that positively focuses on the development of the whole child, with a specific focus on students from communities that have been historically and are currently marginalized by systemic barriers
  • Purposeful and deliberate demonstration of personal leadership resources in action across all leadership domains.
