Summary:


Within the context of a client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.


Reporting to the Regional Director, HIM Strategic Planning, Projects & Business Optimization, the Manager, Strategic Planning and Projects is responsible for leading and facilitating key project activities including working with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve various business processes related to HIM operational areas.

Project requirements may include workflow analysis, project documentation, tracking risks, issues and mitigation, and coordination of project team members to ensure project deliverables are completed on time and on budget.

Works with stakeholders at all levels and inspires others to achieve goals and deliverables through facilitation, effective communication and addressing potential barriers to success.

Communicates with all levels of staff and management to facilitate consensus, consult, negotiate and share information. Liaises with staff, consultants, other health care entities and other external agencies, as needed.

The Manager, Strategic Planning and Projects will also assist in developing project implementation methodologies, supporting documentation templates, and evaluates outcomes of initiatives undertaken in the portfolio.


The Manager is also responsible for providing HIM Lean and Quality Improvement expertise, mentorship, and training to build problem solving capacity and increase efficiencies for service delivery across HIM.

Engages stakeholders across the organizations to conduct analysis of current workflow patterns, patient care experience, staff deployment approaches, identify alternative workflow processes, identify financial and patient safety impacts associated with these processes, implement approved changes, and evaluate the effectiveness of these changes.

The Manager supports the development, implementation and analysis of key HIM performance indicators in conjunction with the implementation of process improvement initiatives.

Builds managerial strength in organization-wide and local continuous process improvements including use of tools, techniques and principles of Lean management or other methods.

Designs, develops and delivers a variety of workshops and training packages and regional and local orientation programs for management staff.

Supports strategic deployment initiatives and provides leadership and guidance to leadership teams regarding the identification, prioritization, and implementation of process improvement opportunities.

Liaises with various external agencies to exchange best practice innovations. Represents HIM's business needs and knowledge on associated committees and acts as a department liaison where appropriate.


This is a Hybrid role.

Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education


Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Informatics, Business Administration, or related discipline plus five (5) years' recent, related experience including experience in a health care setting that includes project management and business analysis experience, facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience in the use of Lean continuous improvement, Lean management, or Lean Six Sigma and/or PMP certification preferred. Experience in implementation of Health Information Systems (Electronic Health Records) is considered an asset.

Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach staff on these skills.

Ability to utilize initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans and realize project completion.

Broad knowledge of health care delivery systems in primary, acute, residential and community settings.

Effective communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment involving physician and nursing communities.

Effective facilitation, persuasion and negotiation skills to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to provide coaching, leadership and team development.

Demonstrated experience leading a team and fostering a respectful, motivating and supportive environment.

Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and influence senior leadership (clinical and administrative).
