Position Summary
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Driver is responsible for delivering customer orders to their place of business undamaged, correctly filled, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Driver include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assemble delivery invoices in order of route
- first to last
- routing system;
- Check all stock in staging area to match customer charge sheet;
- Loads truck in correct route sequence;
- Ensure that errors in staging area are corrected before departure;
- Maintain am and pm manifest sheets by entering pertinent information into the computer before departing;
- Complete log sheet on return by updating computer;
- Before departure performs a safety check of vehicl
e:
airbrakes, fluid levels, and all related safety equipment;
- Accomplish maximum number of deliveries in a safe manner, utilizing defensive driving skills;
- Get customer signature on manifests as proof of delivery;
- Responsible for loading paper boxes onto electric dolly and offloading boxes at customers;
- Collect COD when applicable;
- Obtain authorization to pick up return product from customer;
- Shrink wrap and condense stock;
- Check return goods match quantity and description of return sheet;
- Ensure truck cab and box are clean and tidy;
- Maintain a clean staging area that is free of returned goods;
- Follow and promote health and safety policies and procedures; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of a secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Valid class 5 drivers license or class
- Clean drivers abstract;
- Defensive driving course;
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written);
- Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations;
- Truck driving experience, preferably with air brake;
- Driving experience in similar industry (i
e:
timeframes, size of customer base and daily volume);
- Valid forklift certificate;
- WHMIS and T.G.D. certifications;
- Warehouse experience;
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment;
- Selfdirected with the ability to work well with mínimal supervision;
- Punctual, dependable, and reliable;
- Basic knowledge of paper products; and
- Computer literate.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs;
- Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors;
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals; and
- Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
