Our Team:


The Corporate Communications Team helps deliver on Regional Council's vision by promoting the organization on local, national, and international levels.

The team provides strategic communications expertise to identify communications issues and risks and build strong relationships with media and community partners.

We create content that engages residents and supports the services and programs we provide. We genuinely love what we do, and we are looking for others who share this passion.


The Opportunity:


As part of the Corporate Communications team, as Internal Communications Specialist you will work with key stakeholders across the organization to lead the planning and execution of communications.

Your goal will be to support critical corporate initiatives that drive employee engagement.

You will collaborate with all regional staff to ensure all regional staff can see their work reflected in the vision of the organization.

You will increase awareness among staff of the role they play in shaping the lives of residents daily through communication practices.


You will guide and lead client departments to ensure employee communication aligns with strategic focus areas and provide recommendations on effective internal communications practices.

You will work with stakeholders across the organization to ensure consistent communication to staff.

You will drive employee engagement across the organization and lead new and/or improved methods of communicating with staff.


You will work closely with clients to ensure employee-related information is communicated internally to employees in a clear, timely, effective way.

You will write, edit, and produce communications for internal audiences.

You will develop effective strategies for internal branding, town halls, intranet, and other employee engagement opportunities.

You will ensure the Region's brand and strategic focus areas are connected and relevant across internal communication platforms.


You will regularly attend Council meetings and write/summarize department committee reports to share Council decisions with residents, the media, and stakeholders.

You will exercise a high level of discretion and develops strong relationships with internal stakeholder groups.


Knowledge normally acquired through a university degree in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, Public Administration), plus progressively responsible related municipal experience, including developing, implementing, and promoting corporate policies and procedures, initiatives, and continuous improvement concepts.


Ability to develop comprehensive communications plans for client departments, prepare guidelines and materials for presentations, workshops, information sessions, slide shows materials, and develop and modify communications according to audience using clear language principles.

Knowledge of business methods, social media, public communications, strategic promotional campaign development, and administrative policies and procedures.

Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, Canadian Press Standards, and related legislation.

Knowledge of the corporation's organizational structure, regulations governing its operations, staff, history, community perceptions, and stakeholder relationships.


Leadership, communication, human relations, presentation skills, and political acuity to communicate and promote the Region and corporate projects, explain rules, regulations, and policies, conduct presentations, and workshops, respond to inquiries and requests, sometimes involving politically sensitive issues, and participate as an effective team member.

Ability to read, interpret, and summarize newsletters, training manuals, reports, and legislation.


Ability to write and edit creative briefs, speaking notes, articles, letters, brochures, and newsletters using creative and interpretive writing skills.

Computer skills using software such as Microsoft Word, social media platforms, and digital communications software

Ability to participate in an official standby rotation to respond to legislated or time-sen
