The Opportunity:


Working under the direction of the Manager of Youth Programs,
Program Coordinator II is responsible for all administrative duties and program management support related to the smooth functioning of the Camp Connect Program.

This position provides program, operations, communications, and administrative support and coordination of a variety of activities.

This position is responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of the School's Out Camp Connect Program. The program aims to create an accessible intercultural camp experience in Delta, BC for children ages 6-12. Our camps integrate cross-cultural awareness, environmental responsibility, and personal health and well-being with a full-family approach.

We prioritize registrations for Indigenous and Newcomer children, followed by other high-risk, non-Indigenous and Newcomer children within the school district, and other non-Indigenous and Newcomer children with barriers to accessing summer camps.

The coordinator will collaborate and oversee Activity Workers at each site to ensure successful implementation of the program.


The Key Areas of Responsibility are:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive program offering a wide range of activities, including arts, sports, science, and outdoor adventures.
  • Maintains related records and statistics for input to the reports.
  • Provide administrative guidance on reconciliation of program expenses.
  • Represents the organization or program in external meetings/events where necessary.
  • Supervise activity workers and volunteers.
  • Coordinate camp activities with Activity Workers and ensure the main themes of program are met.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment in which children can interact and play.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local organizations for additional resources and opportunities.
  • Support social and emotional learning to help children develop selfawareness, selfregulation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attend program planning/review meetings, monthly team meetings, all staff meetings, and special meetings as required.
  • Maintains accurate statistics for reporting purposes.
  • Adhere to the Policies and Procedures of the department and the Policies, Procedures and Practices of the Society.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager and/or Director or another assigned supervisor.
  • Post-Secondary Education in a relevant field such as Child and Youth Worker, Social Work, Recreation, etc.
  • Minimum of oneyear related experience with youth, community development or outreach; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Ability to speak one of the languages of the refugee client population will be considered an asset (Arabic, Somali, Swahili, Spanish, Tigrinya, Dari, Pashto, etc).
  • Knowledge of etiquette, sportsmanship, and rules of various common sports.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to conduct and facilitate group sessions.
  • Sound knowledge of community resources and ability to network and build partnerships.
  • Strong computer literacy skills (including MS Windows, MS Word, MS Works, MS Excel and the internet).
  • Effective in documentation, recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions, work independently and interdependently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrates effective conflict resolution/problem solving skills.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.
  • A confidentiality agreement and criminal record check are requirements of employment.
