Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and participate in the quarter close process in key accounting areas
  • Lead US GAAP quarter end reporting process. Includes preparation of MD&A and related schedules
  • Lead IFRS quarter end reporting process. Includes preparation and analysis of the board package
  • Review P&C1 statutory filing schedules and supporting working papers. Provide indepth analysis of statutory capital requirement and forecast
  • Review standard account reconciliations and analysis and journal entries
  • Prepare complex account reconciliations
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements inclusive of full notes, shells and all necessary disclosures
  • Lead annual financial statement audit and assist with tax audits
  • Act as the key liaison between the Finance and Business units on expansion projects and new products launch
  • Assist ERP system implementation, including providing analysis, design, development, and end to end testing
  • Perform special projects as requested

Required Skills/Experience:

  • CPA required
  • Public accounting experience is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in Property & Casualty industry, with full cycle accounting and focus on financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel with the ability to use complex formulas and pivot tables to manipulate data
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively at all levels within the company
  • Experience in P&C finance environment with accounting, financial and statutory reporting.
  • Experience with Alteryx software is, an asset
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and robust analytical skills
  • Exceptionally motivated, organized and detailoriented; team player with a willingness to help where required
  • Exceptional work ethic, integrity and ability to work autonomously while effectively managing expectations
