Key Objectives and Responsibilities:
- Maintain an adequate system of internal controls and verification over accounting transactions ensuring all information and reports remain timely and accurate.
- Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Prepare and manage monthly reconciliations, including supporting working papers.
- Strong understanding of fullcycle accounting, including standards and principles (ASPE).
- Work in conjunction leadership to review reporting, cash flow projections, analysis, work in progress reconciliation, G&A analysis and provide recommendations.
- Collaborate with operations team in relation to cost to complete verification and monthly reporting.
- Manage the PO process and create outlined procedures for operation team and effective payment processing and reporting.
- Providing management with information vital to the decisionmaking process.
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed.
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics.
- Supporting the operations team in cost accounting, budgeting and ongoing management of master models.
- Stay abreast of financial related practices, trends, computer/software advances, political or regulatory activities, and competitive or economic changes which may affect the business.
- Evolving current accounting operations to manage the growth of the organization in an efficient and effective manner.
- Maintaining the chart of accounts and internal control systems over accounting transactions.
- Providing support for the external accountant and yearend review engagement.
- Broad understanding of income tax and regulatory rules, including GST.
- Other tasks and roles as required by business.
Skill Requirements:
- Expertise in monthend closings and financial statement preparation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
- Analytical, quantitative, and excellent social skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Previous public accounting experience is desirable.
- Experience in software implementations.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or equivalent.
- Proven finance management experience and auditing skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software, especially QuickBooks and Sage.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Technical Elements:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) required
- 5+ years in with a Big 4 firm, National Accounting firm
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50, Excel, Word
