About the Opportunity:


Nova Scotia Health is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Site Specialty Lead for Anaesthesia at Cumberland Regional Hospital in the Northern Zone.

Reporting to the Department Head for Anaesthesia, the Site Specialty Lead works with the local physicians to ensure a high standard of patient care is maintained by the medical staff, in accordance with the law, the Bylaws, the Rules and Regulations, licensing and accreditation standards.


The role provides a clinician perspective to all relevant operational and administrative issues with particular focus on quality and patient safety.

About the Department of Anaesthesia

  • Represents more than 1520 physicians working in Truro, Amherst and New Glasgow.
  • Oversees the provision of anaesthetic services across the Northern Zone.

Responsibilities:


  • Acts as a Physician Lead for the Department of Anaesthesia at the applicable site and carries out (or delegates) duties decided upon by the department;
  • Ensures that Medical Staff of the Department of Anaesthesia are compliant with the Bylaws and Rules and regulations of the Nova Scotia Health;
  • Brings forward issues and perspectives of Medical Staff within the Department of Anaesthesia at the applicable site to the Zone Executive Director and/or Zone Department Head for consideration and/or resolution.

Eligibility:


  • MD (with College Certification in Anaesthesia) licensed in Nova Scotia and privileged with Nova Scotia Health.
  • Evidence of past and ongoing leadership training.
