MHICA's technicians build and join wing assemblies and fuselage sections, as well as perform systems and flight control assembly installations and testing.
    Scope of Position
  • Reporting to the Senior Manager-Environmental, Health and Safety, and supporting an organization of 660 employees; the EHS & RTW Specialist is responsible for the following:
  • Provide competent First Aid care to employees in minor and emergency situations.
  • Maintain and manage incident reporting records, WSIB reporting and files, including objections and appeals.
  • Drive accommodation efforts to achieve compliance and zero lost time.
  • Manage Return to Work in collaboration with WSIB/Insurers, Healthcare Providers, Employees and Supervisors.
  • Manage a First Aid facility, including materials, supplies and PPE.
  • Complete floor walks to identify & correct hazards and provide coaching.
  • Support emergency response planning and events.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be certified in Standard First Aid/CPR and have demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to medical incidents/emergencies.
  • Knowledge of WSIB requirements, WSIA, O. Reg 1101 (First Aid), Human Rights Code, OHSA and other applicable regulations.
  • Strong communication and administrative skills.
  • Highly curious with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Must be flexible, reliable, approachable and have excellent interpersonal skills; including conflict resolution and collaboration.
  • Must be able to handle demanding situations and work well under pressure.
  • Must be punctual and able to handle tight deadlines and completion of work in a timely manner.

Experience

  • Must have 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in disability case management, including RTW, accommodation and ergonomic assessments.

Education

  • A postsecondary education related to EHS; or equivalent knowledge and experience.
