Job Description:


  • Overseeing the onsite construction of various engineering projects.
  • Engaging in daily contract administration duties as well as site inspection duties to monitor and document Contractor progress, workmanship, and conformance with the contract documents.
  • Communicating regularly with the Associated Engineering, Client and Contractor project teams.
  • Serving as Associated Engineering's Representative in communicating with the public and other stakeholders through the duration of the construction contract.
  • Participating in opportunities for providing general design and project design including analysis, testing, and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment plants and infrastructure.
  • Participating in opportunities for contributing to all phases of projects from proposal writing, preliminary and detailed design, construction administration support, and Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Engaging in a collaborative work environment with your team, as well as other disciplines and offices.
  • Complying and working within COR certified environment and performing all duties in accordance with those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and applicable legislation.

Job Requirements:


  • Undergraduate degree in Civil, Process, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited postsecondary institution or Diploma in Construction, Construction Management, from an accredited college.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with PEO or eligible for registration; or, registered with designation(s) from OACETT, is an asset.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in construction contract administration and onsite construction inspection while being part of a design and construction delivery team.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in a Construction Site Representative / Contract Administrator / Construction Project Management role, is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in water / wastewater treatment facility design and/or construction, is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with multidiscipline design coordination and construction, is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience with contract administration and onsite inspection principles, practices, and techniques, is required.
  • Experience working for a consulting engineering firm or a construction firm, is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of construction contract interpretation and construction acts.
  • Experience with monitoring and coordinating activities on a construction project including liaising with the Client, Contractors, Approvals Officers, and Public, as required.
  • Experience with preparing various contract administration paperwork including agendas, minutes, daily logs, photographic records, request for information, testing reports, change orders, deficiency lists, construction certificates.
  • Familiarity with applicable local building / construction codes.
  • Experience with project scheduling computer software in assessing construction progress compared to tendered schedule.
  • Working knowledge of construction products, materials, and equipment, is required.
  • Inspection and conformance of construction works with contract documents and engineering design.
  • Experience with interpretation of specifications, plans, and regulations.
  • Experience with preparing engineering sketches, technical specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimation.
  • Experience with startup and commissioning of mechanical systems, as well as postconstruction warranty services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects.
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and the latest version of AutoCAD.
  • Proven analytical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Proven organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Maintaining a valid driver's license and ability to travel within Ontario.
