Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Transitions and Student Life, the Co-curricular Student Engagement Coordinator will lead the efforts to engage students in meaningful and intentional out of classroom learning experiences and community development.

The Coordinator works to achieve this through the coordination, assessment, and evaluation of various co-curricular offerings, as well as the Peer Education and Mentorship, off campus housing, and domestic service learning programs for students at all Centennial College campuses.

In partnership with the Manager, the Coordinator will be responsible for the development of a comprehensive Peer Programming framework which is highly aligned with the Centennial College Advising continuum, complete with curriculum and implementation strategy.

The Coordinator will also serve as team lead for the College's student engagement platform - the Experience Centennial MS Teams channel.


The Coordinator will have responsibility for program delivery and logistics - working cooperatively and collaboratively with key stakeholders including Success Advisors, Residence Life, Athletics and Recreation, Centennial College Student Association Inc., Career Services and Cooperative Education, Community Outreach, and the Academic Schools to ensure program success.

Rooted in student development theory as well as the unique characteristics and demographics of the Centennial community (equity seeking groups), these programs will aim to enhance community, capacity, and confidence of students while engaging them in an exceptional student experience at Centennial College.

The incumbent will play a key role in the development, implementation, and assessment of new programs and services in the area of Transitions and Student Life.


Responsibilities
Coordinate the design, facilitation and resource development for co-curricular student involvement opportunities related to enhancing community, capacity, and confidence for all Centennial students through:
Peer Education and Mentorship

  • In partnership with the Manager, develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive and centralized peer education and mentorship program, complete with curriculum and implementation strategy
  • Define and promote Peer Educator roles in building community and confidence for students as they transition in, though, and out of the College particularly focused on personal and social development initiatives
  • Oversee and facilitate the recruitment strategy, provide training and ongoing coaching to ensure continued success, participant satisfaction, and program retention
  • Facilitate online community development and communication channels for all participants
Student Engagement Activities and Events

  • In partnership with the Transitions and Student Life Team, design and implement a broad range of cocurricular engagement opportunities to enrich the student experience on topics ranging from general interpersonal competencies to global perspective awareness, based on needs assessments and in collaboration with appropriate departments and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement programs designed to help all students connect to campus resources, develop depth of experiences, and connect to the academy outside of the classroom Develop and assist with programming to support all students, but particularly equityseeking students and those facing housing and food insecurities.
  • Remain uptodate and involved in communities of practice, latest research, and best practices in student engagement
Volunteer Programming

  • Serve as a liaison between community agencies and the College by establishing and maintaining contact with directors and appropriate staff at these agencies
