Position Summary
Buyer I, Materials Management
You will be responsible for responsible for the purchase of non-stock hospital supplies and equipment. The Purchasing department provides services to all Hospital Departments at the General Division, Branson Division, and Seniors' Health Centre.
You have excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with end-users and suppliers to maximize the potential of both.
You have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and prioritize work effectively. You are a self-motivated individual, working well with mínimal supervision. Also, you are a team player and assist in all other duties as required.This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.
This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you willBe responsible for the purchase of non-stock hospital supplies and equipment
Obtain pricing, information and other necessary data with respect to supplies and equipment in changing needs and market trends environment
Research and provide information to assist user areas regarding product selection and standardization within the guidelines of the Purchasing Policy of the Hospital
Expedite and return product to suppliers
Answer queries re merchandise arriving at any site without a PO or shipped to our facility in error. Ascertain delivery location or arrange for product return
Arrange for repair of equipment, i.e., dictaphone, addressograph and fax
Set up and maintain Standing Orders
Facilitate contracts department by forwarding all information re additions, deletions and omission.
Process electronic requisitioning as required
Set up/maintains Item, Vendor and EDI database files
Process non-stock invoice exceptions and data input approved invoicing from Accounts Payable
Be responsible for assisting the Manager, Logistics & Manager Supply Chain Services on special projects and other duties as assigned
Meet & strive to exceed departmental metrics, (e.g., E-Req, EDI PO, Req to PO cycle time)
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Courses at the College level in purchasing
Minimum of five years' experience in a computerized healthcare purchasing/warehouse distribution
Must have knowledge of purchasing practices
Excellent working knowledge of Materials Management environments, i.e., Meditech and SAP
Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
Accurate keyboarding skills at 40 wpm
Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
