Position Purpose


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Food Services:

Plan and coordinate the activities and projects related to the physical and material resources management to ensure that the facilities of the sector are safe and functional and that related policies and procedures are well understood and properly implemented.

Execute decisions related the physical resources required for the effective delivery of services.

Oversees third-party operations for multiple points-of-service in order to ensure compliance with uOttawa standards and with related policies and legislation related to the handling and provision of food.

Act as main liaison for the operational needs of tenants in a location under the responsibility of Food Services.


In this role you will:


Implement space allocation decisions for all facilities of the sector, such as points-of-service, food preparation, offices, and storage space, with the objective of maximizing space utilization.

To this end, manage a space inventory, analyze and recommend space requirements, plan and coordinate moves, and delegate internal/external resources for the accomplishment of tasks.

Coordinate all renovations projects with Facilities, including arranging for functional temporary spaces for continuing operations.

Perform regular inspections of infrastructure, equipment, furniture and food preparation areas of the sector to ensure that they are safe and functioning.

Identify discrepancies and initiate improvements when necessary. Recommend preventive repair and construction work in order to avoid the necessity of larger-scale repairs.

Inspect and monitor all Food Services points-of-service for compliance with temperature, sanitation, advanced food handling standards, and service excellence. Act as a mystery shopper, health and safety and quality assurance representative to gauge compliance, and report on findings. Ensure that all contractually agreed-upon terms are respected at all times by the third-party provider.


Manage material resources of the sector, and maintain accurate inventory, to ensure that equipment, supplies and services are available to meet ongoing operational needs.

To this end, contributes expertise about the specific nature of the goods and services required, and interact with suppliers to facilitate required services and request adjustments as needed.

Manage assigned projects related to moves and renovations, repairs and space setup for the sector.

To this end, develop project specifications, identify project steps and track all relevant progress, coordinate scheduling of tradespeople with Facilities, perform inspections upon project milestones and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.


What you will bring:

Knowledge of administration and project management principles normally acquired through postsecondary studies in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role

Knowledge of space management principles

Experience coordinating projects

Ability to produce high quality work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Ability to solve complex problems

Autonomy, flexibility, and adaptability

Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends as needed

Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written)
