Job Summary:
Reporting to the Team Supervisor, the Sub Foreperson will be responsible for assisting with planning, assigning and directing work to final completion.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists Plant Maintenance staff in implementation of their preventative maintenance; scheduled and unscheduled work programs.
- Assists in the preparation of shift scheduling and budgets with Supervisor.
- Responsible and accountable for treatment process changes and incident reporting, as required.
- Compiles and maintains necessary plant records and analyses.
- Ensures that all Occupational Health and Safety practices and procedures as well as internal protocols and environmental compliance requirements are followed plus arrange monthly safety meetings with staff.
- Instructs staff on Regional Standards, Policies and Procedures and appropriate responses to emergencies.
- Provides direction and assistance to plant staff in the daily operation of facilities.
- Acts as operator in charge when required.
- Supervises external workers employed on Planning and Public Works maintenance contracts when working onsite.
- Performs operator duties as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with (2) two years of additional education or training the MECP Director considers relevant.
- Possess and maintain Ministry of Environment (MOECP) operator certification in Water Treatment level (4) four in accordance with the facility and have a minimum of (5) five years of experience at the facility.
- A thorough knowledge of Water Treatment, knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related policies as well as Environmental Legislation and requirements as it pertains to Water Treatment.
- An aptitude for computers is required in order to effectively manage work orders within SAP.
- Cooperative team member who possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Familiarity with automatic controls and SCADA systems.

Working Conditions
- The incumbent will be required to serve on standby and respond to afterhour callouts, as specified by Public Works Operations Practices.
- The incumbent must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position including lifting approximately 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, and moving heavy materials, equipment and boxes.
- The ability to work in confined spaces and oversee and perform designated duties in inclement weather is also required.
- The incumbent will be required to safely handle designated substances, including caustic and acidic chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times. Training and relevant PPE will be provided.

- The incumbent will be required to drive a Regional vehicle and will be required to provide a copy of their G Ontario driver's license and a driver's abstract, by their first day of employment.
