Details of the shifts for our New Recreation Team Member:

Our Village of Wentworth Heights has an exciting opening for a Recreation Team Member to join our team, working around 75 hours bi-weekly.


As a new member of the Recreation Team, you will:

Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture and take pride in offering top-notch recreational programs to our residents.

You will collaborate with other key members of our Village and neighborhood multidisciplinary teams to comprehend the unique needs of residents and advocate for their active involvement in decisions related to their care.


Recreation Team Members at Schlegel Villages cultivate outstanding relationships with residents, their families, and the Village team to provide holistic care that focuses on adaptable living and quality of life.


Recreation Team Members aid our residents by designing and executing programs that contribute to a resident's overall healthcare objectives as outlined in Care Plans (including RAI MDS-Raps, Coding, and Activities Initial Assessment), by promoting physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and cognitive development for residents.


To excel as our new Recreation Team Member, you should:

  • Be enrolled in/completed a diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university
  • Have a keen interest in our goals, our Village philosophy, and the family values that influence all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village
  • Demonstrate a compassionate and respectful attitude towards our residents, families, and team members


It would be beneficial for our new Recreation Team Member to have:

  • Understanding of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual's health
  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques, and opportunities to enhance residents' well-being and overall health
  • Familiarity with the pertinent sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007
