Cougar Helicopters Inc. currently has an opportunity for a
Flight Data and Analytics Coordinator (FDAC).

The Cougar Flight Data and Analytics Coordinator (FDAC) contributes to the Flight Operations and Company internal evaluation and oversight program through the gathering, processing, and analysis of helicopter flight monitoring data along with other assigned Company operational and safety performance indicators - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

This program forms part of Cougar's Flight Safety and Operational Effectiveness programs as a component of Cougar's SMS.


For Helicopter Flight Data Monitoring (HFDM), a systematic and confidential method of accessing, analyzing and acting upon information obtained from flight data is required to ensure compliance with the Flight Manual Limitations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The CHI HFDM program contributes to Cougar's Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) internal evaluation program by being reactive, proactive and predictive in identifying operational risks before they lead to incidents and accidents.

The program encourages proactive liaison with flight crew for individual review(s) of personal flight data.


Key Job Responsibilities:


  • Using CHI customized filter sets for data processing with the GE Event Measurement System Software (GE-EMS), monitor HFDM data within the Rotorcraft Flight Manual (RFM) and SOP Guidelines and report all validated exceedances.
  • All events/exceedances will be examined via EMS software.
  • Report FDM findings of nonconformance, procedural errors or system shortcomings to the Chief Training Pilot (CTP).
  • Liaise with the other department managers, when appropriate, on areas of concern identified during data analysis.
  • Ensure deidentified aggregate information is shared with Flight Crews promoting safer operations and system enhancements.
  • Monitor and validate Event Levels and Event Categories ensuring they are appropriate and current for the operations undertaken by Cougar.
  • Consult with the CTP on recorded level 3 events.
  • Process same data from remote bases/locations, as required.
  • Coordinate with the CP and CTP for a semiannual review of event triggers.
  • Make modifications/additions to system filters on direction of CP.
  • Annual review and maintenance of the CHI FDM Procedures Manual (FQM004).
  • Maintain a confidential/secure "Just Culture" approach to all activities.
  • Complete biannual HFDM Report.
  • Represent CHI on the HeliOffshore HFDM Working group.
  • Maintain a secure and readily accessible archive of CHI FDM data.
  • Conduct internal audits/investigations of data as directed by SQM.
  • Assist the CHI Departmental Managers with developing, maintaining, and monitoring KPIs as a measure of operational effectiveness and safety performance success towards achieving the CHI business goals.
  • Providing weekly reports of Cougar and Customer KPI data as required.
  • Report to the SQM or the OSM immediately where data or KPI trends appear to negatively affect operations or safety.
  • Represent the company at meetings, various professional organizations, customer safety symposiums, and other agencies as appropriate.

Safety and Quality Responsibilities:


  • Practice, actively promote and monitor workplace safety.
  • Comply with Cougar's SMS and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to workplace requirements, reporting hazards promptly and wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Diploma from an accredited postsecondary institution in the area of computers, data processing, data analytics, quality control data management.
  • Minimum three years' relevant experience in the field of aviation.
